I've spent my career at the messy intersection of brand, marketing and technology — building businesses, fixing positioning, and lately, wiring AI into growth engines that actually work. Now I do it for founders who need a senior brain without a senior headcount.
The story
I never set out to be a consultant. I set out to be a designer.
Back in 1999, I was obsessed with creating things that looked great. My early career took me through design agencies, marketing teams and creative studios, working on everything from print and branding to websites and national campaigns. I loved the craft, but it didn't take long to realise that great design on its own rarely solved the real problem.
As my career progressed, I found myself working with businesses that had enormous potential but lacked a clear direction. They had a great product or service, talented people and plenty of ambition, yet their marketing felt disconnected. The website said one thing, the sales team said another, campaigns came and went, and nobody was quite sure what was actually driving growth.
I discovered that what I enjoyed most wasn't just designing brands or building websites. It was bringing everything together into a clear strategy that people could understand, execute and measure.
Over the past 25 years I've worked with businesses of every size, from local companies looking to reach the next level through to global organisations including Vodafone, Norton and Avira. Whether I'm creating a brand, leading a website project or acting as a Fractional CMO, the challenge is almost always the same: helping good businesses communicate their value more clearly and grow with confidence.
When AI became genuinely useful, I saw it as another tool to help businesses work smarter. Instead of talking about what AI might do one day, I started building with it. Today I use AI to create knowledge systems, marketing workflows, content engines and automations that save time, improve consistency and allow businesses to achieve more with the teams they already have.
These days my work spans Fractional CMO engagements, brand strategy, high-performing websites and AI consultancy. They're often sold as separate services, but they're really just different parts of the same goal: helping businesses build a marketing engine that generates consistent growth.
My approach has always been straightforward. No unnecessary jargon. No complicated frameworks for the sake of it. Just clear thinking, practical advice and systems that make marketing easier to manage and far more effective.
If that sounds like what you're looking for, I'd love to hear about your business.
Operating principles
I run businesses too. I know what it's like when payroll's due and the pipeline's thin. Advice here comes with commercial empathy, not consultant detachment.
If the honest answer is "don't hire me, fix your pricing first" — that's the answer you'll get. Trust is the product; everything else is delivery.
A good plan executed this quarter beats a perfect plan executed never. I bias hard towards momentum — and build the quality in as we go.
My job is to make myself progressively less necessary. Systems documented, teams upskilled, decisions explained. No dependency by design.
